Krankbrother in the Secret Basement
Kieran Clancy founded Krankbrother in 2009 and has been running some of the best electronic music events in the UK ever since. I met him last year watching England play in the world cup here in my hometown of Frome and was surprised to hear that he lives in Nunney, a village just outside the town. I am gradually learning not to be so surprised now however, as Frome has always been a hotbed for music, attracting musicians, producers, event organisers and everything in between.
At the start of this year I asked Kieran if he wanted to play some tunes at my night in the Secret Basement at French General Trading and thankfully he said yes! Every night is an opportunity for the guests to explore the more African end of their collections, and for me to take my music in a different direction too. We were joined by Josh Robinson (a long-time friend of Kieran’s who runs the drum n bass label Hospital Records) who is also a resident of Frome. I recorded the full 5 hours - every tune played on the night.
The event was a sellout, and we had an incredible crew turnout to bring their energy to the dancefloor. It was an amazing night and one that will stay with me for a long long time.
